Appliance overview
The Dawson B-splint is a device that provides coverage of both the upper and lower arches, providing complete protection. The splint facilitates and supports lateral and excursive movements without obstruction or damage, however it does not retrain your patients’ muscles to actually prevent the root cause of TMD.
B-splint ideal use
Dawson B-splint Indications for use
Dandy’s Dawson B-splints are intended to reduce pain and discomfort in the TMJ. The devices are worn while sleeping to support patients’ TMJ in the position prescribed by the dentists. The appliances are removable by the patient.
Expect a 2-3 year product life with the appliance.
Appliance replacement signs are cracks in the acrylic and failure of the device to maintain retention
in the patient’s mouth.
To remove the Dawson B-splint from the mouth, remove the upper arch appliance first, then the lower arch. To avoid breakage, do not pull down the back of the appliance.
